Asbestos has been banned on vessels under the SOLAS Convention since 2011 but is still found on board on a large scale. This Maritime Asbestos Awareness course is intended for any crew of a ship or platform but is just as relevant to shore personnel and any contractors who work onboard.
The impact on health of asbestos exposure is often underestimated as it can take years for symptoms to develop. The goal of this training is to increase the knowledge about Asbestos in order to reduce risks working on board.
This is an entry level Asbestos awareness course, which stresses that Asbestos should only be removed from the ship by specialists and those who have had further training in Asbestos.
Seahaven Maritime Academy have teamed up with The Crew Academy to produce this Maritime Asbestos Awareness e-learning course.
